Trip to Germany

On Thursday 12th my Dad and I traveled down to Stansted after a training session at The Leeds Wall, arriving at about 11:45. We stayed at a Premier Inn that night (about 4 hours) in order to wake up at 3:30 ready for our early flight to Memmingen, Germany. Once we had landed, been through passport control and collected our bag we went to find Daniel and Nicole. The 4 of us traveled to Switzerland in their 'Wonderful Yellow Van!' That night I slept well and was exited for our first day of snowboarding the next day :)

The next day we went to a lovely but very steep skiing resort, not ideal for a girl that had never been on a snowboard before! That day was hard and by the end of it  I could barely sit down I had fallen on my bum that many times..

Sunday I like to think I started to get the hang of it, that is until a good snowboarder whizzes past me while I'm slipping down the vast white slope putting me to shame. On Monday we went to Grindelwald  and the views of the Eiger where amazing and breathtaking. When the last day of snowboarding came to an end we had to drive all the way back to Dormagen- taking about 7hours!

The next day Dad and I went to Stuntwerk (The new bouldering wall in Koln.)
That day I had a good time trying some fun volumey problems on the comp wall, it was nice to have a change of route styles:)

Thursday was when we went to Climb-inn, this wall is so good I wish it was closer to where I live! The routes here are also a completely different style which makes a nice change :) One of my favorite routes there was a green, 9 (7c+)!

Friday was the one day Dad and I had a lie-in... when we woke up we caught the train into Koln to go and see the cathedral- it was a magnificent place and I loved the stain glass windows. When we finished looking around we made our way over to Stuntwerk yet again as there was a comp on that night that sounded a good opportunity :)
The comp was set up so that you had 5 hours to complete 30 boulders with a range of difficulty, all on the back comp wall. It was such a good experience and was definitely worth the late night (12pm).

As you can probably imagine I was pretty tired after 4 days of snowboarding and 3 days of climbing so the last day was a real push and at the end my skin was well and truly gone... We went to Climb-inn again on Saturday and managed a few more climbs I was pleased with, my dad also got to go on some ropes that day so its always a plus. That night I fell straight asleep!

Sunday morning was early as we had to wake up at 4.00 to get to the airport for yet another early flight...
Relaxing :)

Thanks Dad for the trip and I hope you enjoyed it too :)
