It was the YCS final on the 25th April and I was asked if I could demo the routes for the competitors on the day so that they could have an idea on how the route was meant to be climbed.
I arrived late on the Friday night so had no chance to see the routes. On the Saturday morning my Dad and I drove from the hotel to Ratho ready for the judges briefing as my dad was helping out with the comp. I had a look at Youth E girls routes (that was the category I was demoing) - they looked fun! I was determined to give my best effort at demoing the routes as they would climb them so it would be easier for them to see the moves.
Once the comp was up and running I found the first group I would be demoing for and got ready for the first climb. The route was interesting with lots of different moves in it, I clearly held the top hold and came down. I then sat with the girls while they had their turn on the route. I demoed the route again for the other half of E girls, trying to emphasise the way to do the moves. The day moved slowly however it worked well. The next two routes were lovely routes that I'm glad I got the chance to climb!
The presentation was next and then it was over. Well done to everyone that competed!
The following day I went back to try all the routes I didn't get the opportunity to have a go on the day before. I got stuck in and loved all the routes I tried😊
Thanks for reading it☺️
